How EBS24 measures AI visibility
EBS24 tracks which local businesses AI assistants name when people ask for recommendations in their city. This page explains what we ask, how we read the answers, where business data comes from — and what we do not claim.
What the GEO Agent asks
For each city and category, the GEO Agent asks an AI assistant one plain question — for example: "List the 20 best dentists in Austin, United States."
Together with the question, the AI is told to name only real local businesses, to give the official website of a business only if it knows it (not a page on a social network, a map or a directory), and to return fewer results rather than invent any.
- One city–category pair is one check.
- City–category pairs are checked in rotation, oldest first.
- Questions are currently asked in English.
How we read the answer
Every answer is saved as it was received, with its date. We then record for each business:
- Mentioned — the business name (or its website domain) appears in the answer.
- Recommended — the business appears in the answer's list of suggestions, and not in a negative context ("avoid", "not recommended").
- Position — its place in a numbered list.
Names are matched within the same city and category, ignoring letter case, punctuation and extra spaces. If AI names a business that is not yet in our catalog, we add it as a "discovered" listing with the name and, if AI gave one, a website that we then verify by opening it. Its details are filled in later from public sources or by the owner.
For a single business, the AI visibility score is simple: each answer counts 1 if the business is recommended, 0.5 if it is only mentioned, and 0 if it is absent. The score is the average, shown as 0–100.
AI answers change
AI assistants do not always give the same answer to the same question. Results can differ from day to day.
That is why every result on EBS24 is a dated snapshot, not a permanent verdict. Repeated checks over time say more than any single one.
In our data, only about half of the businesses named for the same city and category repeat between two checks a few days apart. That is why EBS24 reports how often a business is named across several checks, not a single position.
What the GEO audit checks
The GEO audit looks at what AI can read about a business on its own website. It opens only public pages — the homepage, the contact and about pages, robots.txt and sitemap.xml — and makes a handful of requests per site. It reads pages the way a regular browser does, because many small-business sites block unknown bots.
It checks:
- Basics: page title, meta description, main heading, canonical link.
- Structured data: LocalBusiness or Organization markup, opening hours, FAQ markup.
- Contacts: phone, email and address on the website, and whether they match the listing.
- Content AI can use: services, service area, prices.
- Technical files: whether robots.txt and sitemap.xml can be reached.
- The listing itself: missing contacts or empty GEO Passport sections in the EBS24 listing, and the latest AI visibility result.
Each finding is marked as critical, warning or info.
Where business data comes from
We use public information only:
- what businesses publish on their own websites, including structured data;
- listings added through the public "Add business" form;
- information provided by the business owner;
- answers from AI assistants, for one purpose only: to learn which businesses AI names and where their website may be.
Contact details on a card (phone, address, opening hours, e-mail) come only from the business's own website or from its owner. What an AI assistant says about a phone number or an address is not shown and is not used as a contact: AI answers can be wrong. A website that an AI assistant named is used only after we check that its domain exists.
If a card shows no phone or address, it means we have not found a confirmed one yet, not that the business has none.
When sources disagree, the most reliable one wins, in this order: the owner, our team, the business website's structured data, the business website's text.
Business names come from AI answers and may include businesses we have not been able to verify. If you see an error, tell us through the contact page and we will fix or remove the listing.
For business owners
If your business is listed on EBS24, you can:
- Claim it — with an email address on your website's domain, or through manual review if your business has no website.
- Edit it — contacts, opening hours, services, prices, service area, FAQ and certificates.
- Ask us to correct or remove it — through the contact page.
What we do not claim
- EBS24 does not control or guarantee what AI assistants recommend.
- Our scores are our own measurement, not an official metric of any AI company.
- EBS24 is not affiliated with any AI company.
